Ten years after a highway collision with a deer, shoulder pain began to wake me up in the middle of the night. For the rest of the day I dragged myself around, sleep deprived and at times listless. It wasn’t a pretty picture.
Earlier this year I woke up and had had enough. I knew Rita did active release and I was ready to go for it. I hadn’t realized that I’d lost a lot of range of motion over the years, guarding my arm and shoulder constantly and creating ways of moving them that became more and more restricted. My qigong classes were wonderful but one side of my upper body couldn’t make the necessary moves; I was frustrated.
My first session with Rita brought a breath of fresh air. Yes, having her poke into muscles, tendons and tissue was somewhat painful, but at the end of 20 minutes not only had I gained some new range of motion, but my body felt freer. We continued to meet weekly and each time I felt the difference in what I could do; I had more functionality and used my arm and shoulder to reach for things, actions I’d let my right side take over and do. Additionally, within a few hours following the session, the pain disappeared altogether. I was able to sleep soundly and through the night again. I was happy. I am happy.
Rita has been wise to keep growing her skills and certifications as a massage therapist. These Trainings have equipped her to do her job skillfully and professionally. You can trust her and know that she’ll deliver capably and wisely. I’ve recommended her to my doctor, friends and others who have experienced shoulder injuries. I continue to see her for massage; she gives more than one might expect.
